With this in mind, the company in 2006 commissioned one of the most comprehensive studies in recent years to assess attitudes and behaviors related to needlestick prevention and sharps safety among U.S. nurses and directors of infection control. The study revealed that a significant majority of U.S. nurses report being stuck accidentally by a needle, some multiple times, and 47 percent of all nurses surveyed have been stuck by a contaminated needle.
