Train the Trainer Program
Evaluating a new product places extra tasks on an already busy clinical team. We see it as our responsibility to facilitate a thorough evaluation that allows your staff members to maintain clinical duties while obtaining the right amount of experience with the new product to make a fair assessment.
Below is our standard Train the Trainer program. We find that this process works in the majority of clinical environments. However, we will gladly tailor this program to fit the demands of your facility.
STEP 1: Introduce the Evaluation / Conversion Program
The initial presentations will introduce the Train the Trainer Program. The designated Trainers will provide on-going educational support within the facility to ensure a successful evaluation/conversion.
- Identify a core group of clinicians (1-2 from each unit / department / shift) to participate in the program
- Schedule distribution of Train the Trainer packets
STEP 2: Prior to Evaluation / Conversion
Notify designated departments of specific dates and times for upcoming evaluation/conversion:
- Establish date and time for Train the Trainer Program presentation and notify trainers
- Three weeks prior: determine need for contract nurse support
- Two weeks prior: place evaluation / conversion posters in designated departments / units
- One week prior: post schedule for in-service in designated departments / units
STEP 3: Support Materials
Provide Trainer packets and product training for each coordinator:
- Within the initial process of evaluation / conversion provide a thorough education regarding product features
- Hands-on clinical training, demonstrate proficiency
- Identify and address potential clinical issues
- In-service video
- In-service posters
STEP 4: Trainer Responsibilities
Proactive recommendations for a successful evaluation / conversion:
- Notify unit clinicians that you will be a designated Trainer during the evaluation / conversion
- In-service staff members as needed
- Observe techniques and offer suggestions for a successful injection
- Promote discussion of InviroSNAP! experiences during shift change/report
- Address clinical issues as a group so that all members can benefit from information
- During evaluation, ensure completion of Product Evaluation forms
- Coordinate with Inviro representative to collect for feedback
- During the evaluation / conversion, sign-in sheets will be provided in each unit / department for confirmation of in-servicing to appropriate personnel
STEP 5: Sales Support
Frequent follow-up (unit rounds / phone contact) with Trainers to address clinical issues and obtain feedback:
- Week 1–2 weekly follow-up with Trainers (evaluation / conversion)
- Week 3–6 continued follow-up and unit rounds with Trainers to identify and address any outstanding issues
- On a monthly basis, follow-up with Trainers for updates and feedback
