Safety Resource Center: Annual Safety Survey and Industry Information

Inviro sponsors needlestick studies and promotes safety survey participation to keep awareness of incidents and emerging safety products at the forefront of the healthcare industry. The Safety Resource Center is your gateway for in-depth research, statistics, and information on needlestick studies and prevention of injectable medication errors, which highlight ever-present safety concerns in the healthcare environment.

Annual Inviro Safety Survey

Since 2006, Inviro has sponsored an annual safety survey, in which they ask nurses certain industry-specific questions relating to needlestick injuries and safety concerns on the job. These needlestick studies provide an excellent point of view from the people who handle needles each day and are at the greatest risk.

  • 2008 Study of Nurses’ Views on Workplace Safety and Needlestick Injuries: Sponsored in conjunction with the American Nurses Association, this safety survey captured the opinions, concerns, and experiences regarding the safety climate in the workplace. After surveying more than 700 U.S. nurses about needlestick injuries, an alarming number appear to have been stuck in the past and believe that their injuries could have been prevented with a better safety syringe design.
  • 2007 Study of Injectable Medication Errors: In collaboration with the ANA, Inviro surveyed 1,039 U.S. nurses about the common errors related to injectable medications and syringe labeling. Research showed that 93% of nurses believe that, with an improved write-on label on the syringe, injectable medication errors would be reduced.
  • 2006 Study of Needlestick Injuries and Safety Devices: In the first of Inviro’s comprehensive needlestick studies, the medical devices company sought to understand how U.S. nurses and directors of infection control feel about safety syringes and to evaluate the industry’s views on needlestick injuries. The safety survey found that 70% worry about needlestick injuries on a daily basis.
